My Musings

I am not a huge fan of astrology but one book that truly got me started on it was Tanuj Lalchandani’s Treasure Trove of Zodiacs. The book is a powerhouse of knowledge that makes it very easy for someone to gain knowledge about the various sun signs in an easy and fuss-free manner.

What is the book all about?

One thing that the author is very clear about, right from the beginning, is what this book intends to achieve. People who are into this field put a lot of importance on sun signs; something which doesn’t make sense to an ordinary person like me. There is just one question that pops into my mind – if there are billions of people in the world and only 12 zodiac signs, then how is it that each individual is unique?

It is this concept that Tanuj explains quite succinctly at the beginning of Treasure Trove of Zodiacs. The author elucidates that an individual’s personality is determined by a whole bunch of astrological factors, and zodiac signs play a very small part in it. To truly understand an individual through the medium of astrology, a detailed reading of an individual’s birth chart is a must. Hence, zodiac signs only provide generic insights into the making of an individual and are only the building blocks in learning the science of astrology.

The way it is structured

The book is neatly divided into 12 chapters, wherein each chapter gives us detailed information of each sun sign. The chapters start from Aries and end on Pisces. While talking about the individual zodiac signs, each chapter is again broken down into 3 sections. The first section is a generic one, which tells us the basic characteristics of that zodiac. This is then followed by the male and female section which enlists the distinct features, characteristics, and personality traits of a man and a woman belonging to that zodiac.

Noteworthy is the fact that the book not just provides information about the personality traits of an individual but, it also gives a general indication of their physical attributes.

The writing style of the author

One thing which makes Treasure Trove of Zodiacs an instant hit is the fact that it is so easy to read. The language in which it is written can be understood by anyone with the most basic English skills, and it is this factor that will make the book appeal to a large number of readers. Even if you have never read anything on astrology or zodiac signs before, don’t worry about this book because it is not at all overwhelming. It is meant for readers just like you and me.

The author highlights the positives of each zodiac sign and most of the content talks about the positive side of a particular zodiac, even if there is a negative trait mentioned, it is done so in the most constructive way.

Appeal and readability

The best part of the book is its quality of paper, design and art. The book is around 170 pages and each of the pages is glossy and beautiful. The quality of the paper used is so good that it’s a sheer treat to read it. Even the text isn’t the usual type, it’s a little shiny and embossed – something which is only seen in marriage invitations. Another unique feature of this book is the art & illustration. It’s just wonderful. I won’t be wrong to say that the book is truly a piece of art. Gorgeous illustrations accompany each chapter and the overall effect which these three (high-quality paper, beautiful text and stunning illustrations) produce, just won me over completely. It will be quite safe to say that this is undoubtedly the most gorgeous non-coffee-table Indian book that I’ve ever read.

Final Verdict

In the end, I will surely recommend my readers to give Treasure Trove of Zodiacs a try. I think this book is an extremely effective way to understand the people around us – be it family, colleagues, friends or just acquaintances. Reading this book will be a good way to understand and appreciate the people who we encounter in our daily lives.
