“One day or night, during a high wind and heavy snow, the old tree will topple and perish. Only the monkeys and the boys might miss it. But while it stands, let me celebrate it, for there is nothing more noble than an old tree that has seen it all.”

Ruskin Bond, Stories from my Heart: A Comic Book

Ruskin Bond is one author I can never tire of. I can read his works multiple times and never lose interest. So, imagine my delight when I discovered Stories from My Heart: A Comic Book, a beautifully crafted comic book published by Westland Books.

Featuring some of his most magical stories, brought to life with captivating illustrations, it was an instant must-have for me. Needless to say, I couldn’t wait and quickly ordered a copy for myself.

At just 64 pages, this book, like most of Ruskin Bond’s works, is a blend of memoir, fiction, memories, and inspiration.

Drawing from the author’s rich life experiences in the Himalayas—his childhood and early years spent in the company of wise men and women, his adulthood immersed in the beauty of the mountains, and his writer’s life devoted to observing, admiring, and celebrating nature—the book beautifully captures the essence of his journey.

Stories from My Heart A Comic Book by Ruskin Bond Book Review

What I absolutely loved were the mesmerizing illustrations that perfectly captured the essence of Ruskin Bond and his writings. As an avid reader of his works, none of these stories were new to me, but seeing them presented in such a vibrant and artfully illustrated format gave them an almost magical, reverential quality.

With just one read, I’ve already become a huge fan of this book—so much so that I’ve personally recommended it to at least two people in the last six hours!

Some of my personal favourites include On My Way, Seize the Moment, A Tent of Blue, First Build the Ship, Adventure in Small Things, and I’m a Bee.

Whether you’re a child or an adult, a budding teenager just beginning to explore the world, or an old soul wise with age, this book has something for everyone. It is relatable, heartwarming, and special in many ways.

My recommendation—read it slowly and savour the many small joys that life has to offer. Take your time to experience the world and its wonders in true Ruskin Bond fashion. You can even gift it to a friend and let them share in the magic of his writing. My guarantee—you won’t be disappointed.
