In Anything To Look Hot, Jas Kohli, a renowned plastic surgeon himself has written about the life of a plastic surgeon and the small oddities that shape his/her life.
The story starts when Dhruv applies for a course of plastic surgery and succeeds in getting admitted into it.
What follows then is a series of hilarious, witty and sometimes dreadful episodes which will make any reader sit back and enjoy the show.
Told as the story of Dhruv, the book basically talks about the life of a plastic surgeon and what all he has to face in his daily life.
In a field where name is all that matters, how does one succeed in attracting customers?
In a field where a single operation can last up to ten hours and where one minuscule mistake can bring the wrath of a patient or even an unsolicited lawsuit, how does one cope with the stress and challenge?
Here everybody wants to become Miss India or Mr India but how can one quantify beauty?
From really difficult and temperamental customers to weird competitors to angelic guides this book is indeed a roller coaster drama set in a very realistic field.
Debunking many myths and making knowledge freely available, the book is a definite entertainer as long as one doesn’t go by the cover. I really liked the way the author writes in an easy manner.
I also liked the characters though a few of them felt so real that they really seemed to be inspired by real life.
The simplicity of the plot with just the right dose of drama and masala adds to the entertainment quotient of the book.
Jas keeps it simple and that is just the way I like it plus there is a certain thrill in reading about all those nose jobs and liposuctions.
The book maintains a steady pace throughout and makes for an easy read, quite doable in a three- four hour period.
So, as I stated already don’t go by the cover and give Anything To Look Hot a chance. I am sure you would enjoy it as much as I did. That being said, I rate the book three and a half out of five stars and recommend it to all fiction lovers.
